5 rides to brave at Wild Wadi Waterpark

Make a splash at this family-friendly waterpark in Dubai (reopening on 8 February 2019), which has rides and slides to suit thrillseekers of all ages. Read on to see if you’d be game to hurl yourself down all five of our top picks…

Located in front of Burj Al Arab Jumeirah, Wild Wadi Waterpark was the very first waterpark on the scene in Dubai, yet it remains a firm favourite today with over 30 rides and attractions to get to grips with. From kid-friendly slides and the relaxing lazy river to the terrifying Jumeirah Sceirah (which propels you to speeds of 80 km/h), it’s wet and wild all the way. How many of these five top rides and attractions would you brave?

For water babies

Featuring over 100 water activities – including five slides, a pair of racing slides, and water guns – Juha’s Dhow and Lagoon is ideal for little ones who want to get their feet (and everything else) wet. Two of the colourful slides are completely enclosed, ramping up the excitement. Just beware of the large dumping bucket, which soaks all those in its path every two minutes.

For families who like to float

Grab your float and set sail along Juha’s Journey, the 360-metre-long lazy river, which will take you on a relaxing ride through gentle currents. All ages are allowed in, but bear in mind that children should be supervised by their parents at all times. Complimentary lifejackets are available for less confident swimmers.

Just for the thrill of it

Slide connoisseurs can get their kicks on the Master Blasters. These gravity-defying rides, aided by high-powered water jets, shoot you like a rocket along a series of tubes and up to 15 metres above ground level. Just scream if you want to go faster! (Height and weight restrictions apply.)

For seasoned sliders

Climb into the four-person inflatable and hold on tight as you whizz down the downhill waterslides and exciting tornadoes of Tantrum Alley. Feel the butterflies rise in your stomach as you slide back and forth through the tornado before circling around in the eye of the storm (it’s essentially like being swept down a massive plug hole), before dropping down to the second and third tornados and then splashing out into the pool. Guests must be above 1.1-metres-tall to ride this slide.

For maximum speed

So fast you can’t even wear your Go Pro, Jumeirah Sceirah is the most daunting of all, propelling you down the 120-metre-long slide at a speed of 80km/ until you reach the bottom in a rush of excitement. In our opinion, however, the most terrifying moment is just before you set off – standing in your capsule with your arms and legs crossed, waiting in anticipation for the floor to slide away beneath you and propel you down the shoot.
