Take a deeper dive into this 2.5-kilometre-long stretch of waterfront, which has welcomed a new wave of must-dos
A room with a view
Perfect for families, the private cabana-style Sea Breeze Day Rooms provide respite for those seeking a little comfort with their sun, sea and sand. The stilted wooden chalets can house up to four people and have air-conditioning, comfy seating to park yourself on, a mini fridge, private terrace, sunbeds, towels and an umbrella for extra shade. From Dhs600 for four people (all those who book get 20% off at selected eateries and shops at La Mer).
Ever tasted Uyghur cuisine? Neither had we until OSH opened earlier this year, serving delicacies from the grill alongside authentic Central Asian dishes with a modern twist (the hammour and shrimp manti is a signature choice). Grab a spot on the upper deck for panoramic views of the beachfront. Open from 10am until midnight.
Laguna Waterpark’s new FIT HUB is currently the coolest spot in town for an al fresco workout. The region’s first fully serviced outdoor fitness studio (a team effort by the waterpark and Fitness in DXB), offers a variety of instructor-led workouts including boot camps, yoga, boxing, and dance classes, on top of functional workouts. Plus, if you go on a weekday you’ll get free access to the waterpark so you can splash, slide and surf your way around all the attractions before cooling down in style at the swim-up juice bar. From Dhs99 per class.
Dinner and a movie
Take a break from shoreline fun and frolics, grab a giant tub of popcorn and catch the latest film releases at the boutique Roxy Cinemas, which has joined the party here. Take a seat in the bistro lounge while the team sorts your tickets and takes your food order (think gourmet treats such as chicken burgers, flatbreads, and indulgent desserts). After you’ve polished off your starter, the rest will be delivered direct to your reclining cinema seat.
